The little village with big ideas
Based in Chintsa on the the Wild Coast of South Africa, the Friends of Chintsa is a Non Profit Organisation (NPO registration # 088-760) working as a community in striving for positive change. The NPO is a collaborative community initiative that provides the vehicle for development in the area, with a specific emphasis on education, our environment and bringing about social transformation through action based projects and youth development programs.
Founded in 2008, the organisation has grown rapidly from an affiliate of the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) to a stand alone, accountable NPO running projects in partnership with local schools, government departments, NGOs and community stakeholders.
Local champions turn good ideas into realities and this innovative approach has sparked interest from around the globe. Membership transcends race, creed, sex and nationality. Without each other, very little would be actualised.
The difference on the ground:

See for yourself Help our cause Challenge yourself
The organisation is managed by a committee through which decisions are made and accountability for implememtation is held.

Thank you for your time
Wife, mom, "lungi" to Jozi and Juliet, sister, aunt and friend to many - thank you for your time with us. Anne has played such an important role in the evolution of Chintsa and lived the ethos of our organisation, to give of one's self un-selfishly for the betterment of those around us. From the early days when she opened her resort to underground political movements, through to the more recent years where she welcomed the thousands of travellers who made her space their home. Progressive, artistic, witty and always ready for a cup of tea, a chat or a game of scrabble, you will be sorely missed by all of us.
Thank you Anne for all you have given Chintsa. Your memory will continue to guide and mentor this community.
